When will you sponsor riders?
Posted by Kevin Krohn on 20th Sep 2022
If I had a dime for every time, I was asked the question: "Do you sponsor riders?", I would have...well, a lot of dimes. Most of the time the kids who ask the question have no idea what it even means to be "sponsored'. I usually ask them what they would do in return and am most often met with silence. I explain that in order for a shop/brand to offer parts or money to a rider, they would need that rider to increase sales for the shop/brand over and above the compensation being doled out. Otherwise, why would we sponsor? It is a business transaction. LeBron James gets paid a lot of money by Nike, not because they think he is a good basketball player, but because he sells a LOT of shoes for them.
All of that said, I AM interested in growing our sport and supporting as many young riders as possible. I have thought a lot about how best to do that since we opened our doors for business back in August of 2020. I have some ideas but am looking for more rider input on how this can best be done. I am open to any ideas that make sense, no matter how big or small they may be.
Are you a rider who thinks he/she can move the needle in your sphere? Do you have the skills and passion for the sport that can inspire others to follow you? If so, reach out to me via email: kevin@ocproscooters.com with your thoughts. I will reply to everyone who contacts me.
